Your data, explained plainly
We'd rather tell you exactly what we collect and why than hide behind generic legal language. Here's how Coucou Vert actually handles your information.
What we collect, and why
Account basics
Name, email address, and country, so we know who you are and can keep your account secure.
Optional profile info
A bio and profile photo, if you choose to add them. These are entirely optional and public once set.
Delivery addresses
Collected at checkout so sellers and couriers know where to send your order.
Orders, listings & reviews
Your order history, any listings you create as a seller, and reviews you write.
Negotiation messages
Chat messages sent while negotiating a price with a buyer or seller.
How your password is protected
Your password is never stored in plain text. Authentication runs through Supabase, our authentication provider, which securely hashes your password before it ever touches our database. Nobody at Coucou Vert, and nobody else, can view your actual password.
Who can see what
We use a database security model called Row Level Security, which enforces, at the database level, that you can only access your own private information. Other users can only ever see what's meant to be public.

- Your name
- Your public listings
- Reviews you’ve written or received
What stays private to you
- Your email address
- Delivery addresses
- Order history and negotiation messages
Third-party services we use
Supabase is our database and hosting infrastructure. It stores your account data and enforces the access rules described above.
Payment processing (Stripe, Razorpay) is planned but not yet live on Coucou Vert. We're being upfront that this is a future addition. We don't currently collect or process card or payment details, and we won't claim payment security measures that don't exist yet. This page will be updated with the specifics once payment processing goes live.
PostHog powers our analytics, only once you've consented — see "Analytics & cookies" below for exactly what that means.
Analytics & cookies
We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics provider (EU-hosted), to understand how people actually use Coucou Vert. It only runs if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner — if you decline, or simply don't respond, nothing is tracked.
Once accepted, we collect:
- Page views — which pages you visit and when
- Account signup completed
- Listing published
- Checkout / purchase completed
- Negotiation offer sent
That's it — we don't record your screen, replay your sessions, or track every click. You can change your choice at any time from the link, also available in the footer.
Deleting your account
You can request account deletion at any time from Profile → Manage settings. Doing so will anonymize your profile and permanently disable your account. Your past orders and reviews stay intact for other users, but you won't be able to log back in.
We keep order and review history around (with your personal details removed) so the record stays accurate for the other people involved. A buyer's review of a plant shouldn't disappear just because the reviewer deleted their account.
This policy will evolve
Coucou Vert is still young, and how we handle data will likely change as we grow. Payment processing is the clearest example on the horizon. If we make a material change to this policy, we'll let you know rather than quietly updating this page.
