About Coucou Vert

Coucou Vert was founded by Rashal Arfat, based in Paris, France. The idea was sparked by a good friend, Robin Wang, whose own love of home-grown plants got Rashal hooked in the first place. It's been built in evenings and weekends, alongside a full-time day job, because Rashal genuinely wanted it to exist.

It started small and a little unusual: Rashal grows plants at home as a hobby, potted in upcycled coconut shells and glass jars instead of anything bought new. What began as a personal habit of growing things sustainably slowly turned into the idea for Coucou Vert, a place where anyone who grows or sells plants, from a single home grower to a small shop to a wholesaler, could reach buyers who actually care where their plants come from.

We're not a big company pretending to be small. It's one person, in one apartment in Paris, trying to build something honest for a community that's spread across the whole world.

Coucou Vert connects home growers, small plant shops, and wholesalers with plant buyers worldwide. Two things matter most to us in how that works: sustainability and fairness.

Every listing is encouraged toward eco-friendly containers over disposable plastic. And instead of fixed take-it-or-leave-it prices, Coucou Vert has built-in negotiation chat. Buyers and sellers can actually talk and agree on a price together, in the app, before checkout. It's a small thing that we haven't found on any other plant marketplace, and it's core to what fair pricing means to us.

Coucou Vert Originals are the plants Rashal grows personally, sold at 0% commission, the same plants that started this whole idea. Everyone else in the community marketplace sells at a flat 8% commission, which keeps Coucou Vert running without ever touching what a negotiation actually settles on.
